Isaiah Mucunguzi
July 27, 2026 - Less than a minute readIsaiah writes and produces as iZAYA, an electronic artist from Kampala. His music has appeared in Walt Disney’s Queen of Katwe, in HBO-sponsored productions and on CNN’s Inside Africa. TECNO and Infinix have hired him to score phone campaigns, South Africa’s National Arts Festival commissioned him for a dance theatre piece, and a sustainability project in Abu Dhabi runs on an audio identity he built.
On stage he performs semi-live, playing guitar, djembe and synths over tracks running out of Ableton Live. He calls the result Retro Bass: Ugandan rhythms folded into 80s pop and dance music. He also works in new media as an art director, with motion design, projection mapping and stage design on his credit list.
