Ahuurra Andrew

Founder & Managing Director · Composer, Sound Designer, Re-recording Mixer

Andrew has spent twenty years making sure African stories sound the way they deserve to sound. He was music mixer on Disney's Queen of Katwe, worked on Burna Boy's 3 Cold Dishes, and has written 33 scores for film, television and documentary. The Red Sea Festival Labs named him one of the top ten composers working out of Africa, and he holds a Dolby certification for immersive re-recording mixes.

He is Managing Director of Quad-A Group and the reason this academy exists. Away from cinema he consults on acoustics for buildings and AV installations, on specialised rooms such as ENT audiology booths, and for churches running live services and streams every week. He has judged the Uganda Film Festival and the Silverback Awards, and teaches masterclasses at Durban FilmMart and across East Africa.

Do I need any prior experience or qualifications?

No formal qualifications are required. A genuine interest in sound and a willingness to practise are what matter most. Any specific prerequisites are listed on the program page before you apply.

What equipment do I need?

You will need regular access to a piano or a weighted-key keyboard (88 keys recommended) and headphones.

How long is the course and how is it delivered?

Each course runs over four modules with self-paced lessons, practical assignments, and a final assessment. You can learn on a laptop, desktop, or tablet, the platform is optimised to work even on 2G/3G connections.

Will I get a certificate, and how do payments work?

You finish with practical, portfolio-ready skills and a Quad A Academy certificate you can verify online. Tuition can be paid by card or mobile money; bank and MTN MoMo instructions are shown at enrollment, and scholarships are available for eligible applicants.
